FAQ

Questions about Asana + Shopify.

When is Asana + Shopify useful?
When orders require manual work — custom products, dropshipping coordination, bespoke configuration, or customer service follow-ups. Asana queues the work; Shopify stays the storefront.
How do I create an Asana task only for high-value Shopify orders?
Shopify Order Created → Filter where total_price > $X → Asana Create Task in a "VIP Orders" project. Lower-value orders flow through normal fulfillment without manual touch.
Can I auto-create Asana subtasks per Shopify line item?
Yes. Loop over the order's line_items array; per item, Create Subtask with the SKU + quantity + customization notes. Useful for orders that combine multiple custom products.
How do I mark a Shopify order tagged "in_production" when the Asana task starts?
Asana Task moved to "In Progress" → Shopify Update Order with tags = "in_production". Customer-facing storefront flows or emails can then condition on the tag.
Can I push Asana task completion as a Shopify fulfillment?
Yes. Asana Task Completed → Shopify Create Fulfillment with tracking number from a custom field, marking the order as shipped. Closes the loop without manual Shopify admin entry.
How do I notify the customer when their custom Asana task is done?
After Create Fulfillment, Shopify automatically emails the customer if your shipping settings have notification enabled. Or fire a custom email via Gmail/SendGrid using the Asana task details.
