FAQ

Questions about ClickUp + Anthropic.

How does Claude help with ClickUp triage?
New ClickUp task → Claude reads title + description → returns priority, list assignment, and an estimate. The workflow uses Update Task to set the predicted fields and Add Comment with the reasoning.
Can Claude break a vague ClickUp task into subtasks?
Yes. Prompt Claude to return a JSON array of subtask titles. Loop over the array and call Create Subtask for each. Useful for tickets that arrive as one-sentence ideas.
How do I get a daily AI standup from ClickUp activity?
Schedule a workflow at 9am: list tasks updated in the last 24h via ClickUp List Tasks → format the title+status+assignee+comments → ask Claude to summarize as a 5-bullet standup → post to Slack.
Can Claude detect duplicate ClickUp tasks?
Yes. On Task Created, search recent tasks via List Tasks, ask Claude to compare the new task against existing ones, and if a duplicate is found, link them via Add Dependency and comment with the reasoning.
How do I keep Claude responses short enough to fit a ClickUp custom field?
In the system prompt, set max output length explicitly ("Reply in one sentence under 100 chars"). Pair with max_tokens to enforce. Short-text custom fields cap at ~256 chars; long-text fields are effectively unlimited.
Can I use Claude as a ClickUp comment summarizer?
Yes. Get Task Comments → concatenate the thread → ask Claude for a 2-sentence "where we are" summary. Pin the summary as a comment so new collaborators get up to speed without reading the whole thread.
