Basecamp
Basecamp project and to-do automation
Basecamp is 37signals' opinionated all-in-one project tool — message boards, to-do lists, schedule, docs & files, group chat, all behind a deliberately simple UI. Tiny Command exposes four actions against Basecamp 4 (the current version, also known as Basecamp 4.0), no triggers (Basecamp's hook system fires per-project to a configured webhook URL; for event-driven workflows configure a Basecamp project hook pointing at a Tiny Command webhook trigger): List Projects (every project in the account the connected user can see), Create To-do, Complete To-do (transition a to-do to done), and Create Message (post to a project's message board, like Slack but threaded by topic). The connection uses Basecamp OAuth at the account level. Basecamp 4's resource model puts everything under a project — every to-do list, message, schedule, doc belongs to one project, with separate tools enabled or disabled per-project. Most workflows pin a specific project at action setup; cross-project automation is rare in Basecamp's "boundaries are good" philosophy.
Do anything Basecamp can do, from a workflow.
Every action accepts dynamic inputs from upstream nodes, whether that's an AI output, a form field, or a search result.
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Complete To-do | Transitions a to-do to the completed state. Assignees get the standard Basecamp completion notification. Useful for "external CI run finished green → mark the deployment to-do done" cascading workflows. |
| Post Message to Board | Posts a message to the project's message board — the place teams use for longer-form updates and discussion (vs the Campfire chat tool for ephemera). Useful for "weekly automated project digest → post to the project board" workflows. |
| Create To-do | Adds a to-do to a specific list within a project with optional assignees, due date, and notes. The standard hook for "external event → create the corresponding task in Basecamp" patterns. Pin the list ID at workflow setup. |
| List Projects | Returns all active Basecamp projects the connected user is a member of. Useful for project-picker UIs in workflow setup or for cross-project reporting workflows that iterate over projects to gather metrics. |

Three things worth knowing.
Tiny Command counts a run the moment a trigger fires. Filtering early means only matching events spend your usage budget.
Connect Basecamp once and every workflow on your account can use its triggers and actions. You don't have to re-auth per workflow.
Every Basecamp field shows up in the visual picker for downstream nodes. The raw payload is there for power users, optional for everyone else.
