WhatsApp Business

WhatsApp Cloud API messaging

WhatsApp on Tiny Command targets the WhatsApp Business Cloud API (Meta's hosted version of the WhatsApp Business Platform — no on-prem container required). Two triggers — Message Received (an inbound message from a customer, text, image, voice, or interactive button reply) and Message Status Update (delivery/read receipts on outbound messages) — plus three actions: Send Message (free-form text within the 24-hour customer-service window), Send Image, Send Template Message (the only way to message a customer outside the 24-hour window — uses pre-approved templates with variable placeholders). The connection uses a Meta System User access token plus the phone number ID (from Meta's WhatsApp Manager) and the WhatsApp Business Account ID. The 24-hour rule is the load-bearing concept: once a customer messages you, you can send any content for 24 hours; after that, only approved templates can initiate. Template messages get approved by Meta with categories (marketing, utility, authentication) that govern pricing per send.

Workflows start when WhatsApp Business does.

2 real-time triggers, each backed by a webhook subscription. Events arrive within seconds and you don't have to set up polling.

Actions

Do anything WhatsApp Business can do, from a workflow.

Every action accepts dynamic inputs from upstream nodes, whether that's an AI output, a form field, or a search result.

ActionWhat it does
Send ImageSends an image message via WhatsApp Business by URL, with an optional caption. Image must be JPEG or PNG, under 5 MB, and only works inside the 24-hour customer service window.
Send MessageSends a freeform text message via the WhatsApp Business Cloud API. Only allowed inside the 24-hour customer service window; outside it, you must use Send Template Message instead.
Send Template MessageSends a pre-approved WhatsApp template (HSM) with named or positional variables. Required to message users outside the 24-hour customer service window or to initiate the conversation.

Before you build

Three things worth knowing.

Filter at the trigger

Tiny Command counts a run the moment a trigger fires. Filtering early means only matching events spend your usage budget.

Authorize once, reuse anywhere

Connect WhatsApp Business once and every workflow on your account can use its triggers and actions. You don't have to re-auth per workflow.

No JSON to read

Every WhatsApp Business field shows up in the visual picker for downstream nodes. The raw payload is there for power users, optional for everyone else.
