Instagram media publishing and insights
Instagram on Tiny Command covers the publishing and analytics surface for Business and Creator accounts (personal Instagram accounts can't use the API). Seven actions handle the operational reach: Create Media Container (step 1 of Instagram's two-step publish flow — upload the media), Publish Media (step 2 — make the post live), Get Account Insights (followers, reach, impressions over a period), List My Uploaded Videos / Media, Get Media (insights and metadata for a specific post), Reply to Comment. No triggers — Instagram doesn't emit webhook events for general publishing; the comment-mention webhook is part of Meta's Webhook product which we're integrating separately. The integration uses Meta's OAuth via the Instagram Graph API. Common patterns: a Notion editorial database row tagged "ready to publish" fires Create Media Container + Publish Media to post the carousel, while a scheduled weekly workflow runs Get Account Insights and posts the metrics to a marketing Slack channel for review.
Do anything Instagram can do, from a workflow.
Every action accepts dynamic inputs from upstream nodes, whether that's an AI output, a form field, or a search result.
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Create Media Container (step 1) | Step 1 of Instagram's two-step publishing flow — creates the media container with the image/video URL and caption. Returns a container ID; follow with Publish Post (step 2) once container is ready. |
| Get Instagram Account Insights | Returns account-level metrics — followers, reach, impressions, profile views. For "weekly Instagram performance digest" reporting workflows. |
| Get Instagram Media | Returns a specific post by ID with engagement metrics (likes, comments, reach). For "best-performing posts this week" analysis workflows. |
| List My Instagram Posts | Returns paginated posts on the connected Instagram Business account. For inventory, cross-platform syndication audits, or for "show me my engagement history" reporting. |
| Publish Instagram Post (step 2) | Step 2 of Instagram's two-step publish — moves a previously-created container to live. Container must be ready (media processing complete). For "auto-publish prepared media to Instagram" workflows. |
| Reply to Instagram Comment | Posts a reply to a specific comment on a Business account's post. For "auto-respond to common questions in comments" or "thank you" engagement workflows. |
| Send Instagram DM | Sends a DM to a user who has previously interacted with the Business account. Instagram's 24-hour messaging-window rule applies. For "respond to customer DMs from a unified inbox" workflows. |

Three things worth knowing.
Tiny Command counts a run the moment a trigger fires. Filtering early means only matching events spend your usage budget.
Connect Instagram once and every workflow on your account can use its triggers and actions. You don't have to re-auth per workflow.
Every Instagram field shows up in the visual picker for downstream nodes. The raw payload is there for power users, optional for everyone else.
