Google Tasks

Google Tasks personal todo automation

Google Tasks is the lightweight todo app that lives inside Gmail and Calendar — the simplest of Google's productivity tools, used for personal task lists rather than team collaboration. Tiny Command surfaces two triggers (Task Created — a new task in any task list the connected account has access to; Task Completed — a task transitioned to completed state) and three actions (Create Task, List Task Lists, List Tasks). The connection uses Google OAuth with the tasks scope. Task Completed is the standard "did the thing get done?" trigger — paired with a Google Calendar trigger that creates a task per meeting, you get a workflow that fires when meeting follow-ups are checked off. Create Task accepts a parent task ID to create as a subtask, a due date, and notes (the longer-form description field). Google Tasks doesn't have priorities, tags, or collaborative assignment — it's intentionally minimal. For team task workflows, the answer is Asana, ClickUp, or Linear, not Google Tasks.

Actions

Do anything Google Tasks can do, from a workflow.

Every action accepts dynamic inputs from upstream nodes, whether that's an AI output, a form field, or a search result.

ActionWhat it does
Create Google TaskCreates a task in a specific list with title, due date, notes. For "calendar meeting created → auto-add a follow-up task" or "external system event → personal todo" workflows.
List Google Tasks ListsReturns the user's task lists (work, personal, custom lists). Useful for resolving list IDs at workflow setup.
List Google TasksReturns tasks within a specific list with status, due date, parent (for subtasks). For "today's tasks digest" personal-automation workflows.

Before you build

Three things worth knowing.

Filter at the trigger

Tiny Command counts a run the moment a trigger fires. Filtering early means only matching events spend your usage budget.

Authorize once, reuse anywhere

Connect Google Tasks once and every workflow on your account can use its triggers and actions. You don't have to re-auth per workflow.

No JSON to read

Every Google Tasks field shows up in the visual picker for downstream nodes. The raw payload is there for power users, optional for everyone else.
