n8n alternative
n8n is excellent if you want self-host or open source. If you don't, TinyCommand is hosted out of the box, and bundles the forms, database, agents, and email those workflows need.
No infra to maintain · Hosted free tier · Predictable Professional at $49 (no €50 → €667 jump)
“I made an AI assistant using n8n last year, but now TinyCommand has most of the same features plus integrated features that make the building process a lot more efficient.”
Why teams switch
n8n Community is genuinely free, if you're willing to run Docker, update it, monitor it, back it up. TinyCommand is hosted; you spend zero time on infrastructure.
n8n connects to your forms (Typeform), database (Airtable), and email (Mailchimp). TinyCommand IS them. The workflow doesn't 'integrate' with these. They're already there.
n8n Cloud's biggest gripe: Pro is €50, Business is €667. No middle. TinyCommand Professional is $49. Same Pro-tier capability without the 13× jump to the next plan.
Side-by-side
Honest feature parity where it exists. Concrete gaps where it doesn’t.
| Feature | TinyWorkflows | n8n |
|---|---|---|
Visual workflow builder | TinyWorkflows | n8n |
Open source | TinyWorkflows Hosted only | n8n n8n's strongest argument |
Self-hostable | TinyWorkflows Hosted only | n8n Community edition, free forever |
Hosted (no docker-compose, no infra) n8n Community is great if you want to self-host. If you don't want to maintain infra, hosted (n8n Cloud or TinyCommand) is the only path. | TinyWorkflows Hosted out of the box | n8n n8n Cloud, but big price jumps |
Native forms, database, agents, email n8n connects to your forms / DB / email; TinyCommand IS them. | TinyWorkflows Same product surface | n8n Bring your own forms, DB, email, then connect them |
Code in a workflow step n8n Code nodes run JavaScript or Python. In TinyCommand you write a JavaScript expression in a Transformer step to reshape data between steps. | TinyWorkflows JavaScript in a Transformer step | n8n n8n's killer feature for devs |
AI agent as a step | TinyWorkflows TinyAgents built-in | n8n AI nodes via OpenAI/Anthropic |
Pricing predictability for non-self-host n8n Cloud jumps from €50 Pro to €667 Business, a 13x leap. No mid-tier. | TinyWorkflows $0 → $19 Basic → $49 Professional → $149 Agency | n8n Brutal Pro → Business gap |
Free tier | TinyWorkflows Hosted, forever | n8n Self-host: unlimited. Cloud: 14-day trial only |
Marketer-friendly template gallery | TinyWorkflows Use-case curated | n8n 9k+ community templates, dev-flavored |
Best for | TinyWorkflows SMB / ops teams wanting the whole stack | n8n Devs / teams that need self-host or code-heavy workflows |
Where it fits
Same Pro-tier shape of automation, plus the forms, DB, agents, and email those workflows need, without each being its own integration.
Real flows
Same lead-routing workflow n8n self-hosters build, without spinning up a server. Form → enrich → score → CRM → Slack, all in one product.
Daily job that hits 3 APIs, normalizes the data, dedupes, writes to your TinyTables. A JavaScript expression in a Transformer step reshapes the data in between.
Inbound email → agent classifies + drafts a response → human approves in Slack → send. Same shape as n8n agent workflows, with built-in forms/DB/email surrounding it.
Multi-system orchestration that would take 5 connected nodes in n8n, and the same connections you'd set up to make it work.

n8n is excellent if (a) you need self-hosting (compliance, air-gapped, data-residency), (b) you want open source / no vendor lock-in, or (c) you're a developer who lives in code and treats workflows as infrastructure. TinyCommand is the better call if you want the workflow PLUS the forms, database, agents, and email, without running infrastructure. Most teams under 100 people don't need self-host; they just don't want to maintain it.
It's a product decision. Hosting ourselves lets us ship faster, keep prices low, and tightly integrate all 11 products. There is no self-hosted edition, so compliance or air-gapped setups that require self-hosting aren't a fit.
There is no automatic n8n importer, and TinyCommand does not import workflow JSON. Our team rebuilds your workflows for you, including rewriting Code node logic as Transformer steps where it fits. Live within a week.
Partly. You can write a JavaScript expression in a Transformer step to reshape data from earlier steps. There is no Python step and no full code node. n8n's code experience is deeper, especially around debugging; that's their devs-first DNA.
True. n8n Community is genuinely free if you're willing to run Docker. The cost is the time you spend maintaining it, updating it, monitoring it, backing it up. TinyCommand's free hosted tier is the trade: pay nothing, but we run the infra.
We don't have that gap. Free → Basic $19 → Professional $49 → Agency $149. The €50 → €667 jump is one of the bigger criticisms of n8n Cloud: there's no mid-tier for growing teams. Our Professional plan handles teams that would max out n8n Pro without forcing them into the Business tier.
Valid concern with any hosted tool. Two answers: (1) any table exports to CSV, Excel or PDF, while workflows can't be exported as files; (2) there is no self-hosted edition, so if you need insurance against vendor risk at the infrastructure level, that's a real limit. Most teams accept hosted-vendor risk for SaaS like Slack, Notion, GitHub; TinyCommand sits in the same category.
JavaScript expressions in Transformer steps cover data reshaping inside a workflow. What TinyCommand doesn't have today is a full code node, Python, n8n's depth of code tooling and debugging, or a self-hosted edition, so workflows that depend on those are a real limit.
Hosted from day one. $49/mo Professional covers what n8n Cloud Pro does, plus the data layer.
