Giphy

Giphy GIF search and discovery

Giphy is the GIF discovery platform — the API behind GIF pickers in iMessage, Slack, Twitter, and most apps that let users insert GIFs. Tiny Command exposes two actions, no triggers: Search GIFs (full-text search across Giphy's library, returns matching GIFs with URLs in multiple sizes), Get Random GIF (a random GIF, optionally tag-filtered — useful for "pick a random celebration GIF" workflows). The connection uses a Giphy API key from developers.giphy.com. The API is fully free for non-production use (development tier); production use requires an explicit production API key tied to a registered app. For workflows that auto-generate GIF reactions in Slack/Discord, create celebration GIFs in Slack notifications, or add visual flair to emails, Giphy is the standard source. Note: Giphy's content moderation isn't perfect — for use cases where content control matters (kids' apps, professional contexts), evaluate Tenor or curated GIF libraries.

Actions

Do anything Giphy can do, from a workflow.

Every action accepts dynamic inputs from upstream nodes, whether that's an AI output, a form field, or a search result.

ActionWhat it does
Get Random Giphy GIFReturns a random GIF, optionally filtered by tag (e.g., "celebrate", "thinking"). For Slack-bot workflows that want variety in reactions without specifying exact GIFs each time.
Search Giphy GIFsFull-text search across Giphy's GIF library with optional rating filter for age-appropriate content. For "auto-pick a relevant GIF for this Slack notification" workflows.

Before you build

Three things worth knowing.

Filter at the trigger

Tiny Command counts a run the moment a trigger fires. Filtering early means only matching events spend your usage budget.

Authorize once, reuse anywhere

Connect Giphy once and every workflow on your account can use its triggers and actions. You don't have to re-auth per workflow.

No JSON to read

Every Giphy field shows up in the visual picker for downstream nodes. The raw payload is there for power users, optional for everyone else.
