Discourse

Discourse forum and community automation

Discourse is the open-source forum platform — modern UI, deep moderation tools, used by most large open-source projects (Rust, Elixir, Python forums all run on Discourse) and many SaaS communities (Stripe, Shopify, Linear support forums). Tiny Command exposes two actions, no triggers (Discourse supports webhooks configured in admin Plugins → Webhook URLs; point at a Tiny Command webhook trigger URL for post-created, topic-created, user-joined events): Create Topic (start a new topic in a specific category with title, body, optional tags), List Latest Topics (recent topics across the forum or filtered to a category). The connection takes the Discourse instance URL plus an API key + API username (from admin API panel). Discourse is popular with developer-tool and community-driven SaaS companies for both support forums (Q&A community) and product announcements (release-notes channel). The Create Topic pattern is useful for "auto-post weekly release notes" or "create a topic per support ticket category" workflows.

Actions

Do anything Discourse can do, from a workflow.

Every action accepts dynamic inputs from upstream nodes, whether that's an AI output, a form field, or a search result.

ActionWhat it does
Create Discourse TopicStarts a new topic in a specified category with title, body (markdown), and optional tags. For "weekly release notes → auto-post to release-notes category" or "support request from external → create topic in Help category" workflows.
List Latest TopicsReturns recent topics across the forum or filtered to a category. Useful for "what's active in our community this week" digests and for "any unanswered support topics?" maintenance workflows.
Recipes

Pre-built Discourse workflows.

Clone any recipe and customize it in one click. Every recipe is fully editable.

Before you build

Three things worth knowing.

Filter at the trigger

Tiny Command counts a run the moment a trigger fires. Filtering early means only matching events spend your usage budget.

Authorize once, reuse anywhere

Connect Discourse once and every workflow on your account can use its triggers and actions. You don't have to re-auth per workflow.

No JSON to read

Every Discourse field shows up in the visual picker for downstream nodes. The raw payload is there for power users, optional for everyone else.

FAQ

Questions about the Discourse integration.

If we missed yours, ping support. We usually reply within an hour.

How do I connect Discourse to Tiny Command?
Open the Tiny Command workflow builder, drop in a Discourse node, and click Connect. Authorize Discourse once and any workflow on your account can use its triggers and actions. Most teams finish the connection in under two minutes.
What Discourse triggers does Tiny Command support?
Tiny Command focuses on outbound actions for Discourse today. Use Tiny Command's universal Webhook or Schedule trigger to start Discourse workflows, then run any Discourse action you need.
What Discourse actions can I run from a workflow?
2 Discourse actions are available out of the box, covering other operations like "Create Discourse Topic". Every action accepts dynamic inputs from upstream nodes, whether that's a search result, an AI output, or a form field.
Is the Discourse integration real-time?
Discourse actions execute synchronously inside your workflow. Tiny Command waits for Discourse's API to confirm before continuing to the next step, so downstream nodes can rely on the result.
Do I need to write code to use Discourse with Tiny Command?
No. Every Discourse trigger and action is fully configurable from the visual workflow builder. For edge cases that aren't covered, drop in a custom HTTP node and call any Discourse API endpoint directly.
How much does the Discourse integration cost?
There's a free tier you can start on without a credit card. Higher run volumes and team features come with paid plans. The Discourse integration itself has no per-app surcharge.
